Bicycle tours of the Port of Melbourne
This bike tour has been designed to follow the outer edge of the port and to let people know about what goes on in the various different areas of the port.
Contained within the route instruction PDFs are text boxes of information about each section of the port - what they are used for and what is imported or exported through each.
The beginning of the ride takes you through Victoria Harbour which is now part of the Docklands precinct. Victoria Harbour used to be part of the Port of Melbourne until it was acquired by the Docklands Corporation. See the Melbourne Docklands website for history and more information about this area, which was once part of the docks.
Several roads on this bike route (Footscray Rd, Whitehall St, Hyde St and Somerville Rd) are very busy. Care should be taken whenever cycling along them.
