Port of Melbourne Corporation's Port Community Education Centre

Port education centre

Shipping and its associated industries provide exciting teaching and learning resources, but most of the activities within the port are inaccessible to the general public.

The Port Community Education Centre (Port Ed) provides an opportunity for people to find out more about the activities of the Port of Melbourne. Port Education Brochure (PDF, 112kb)

The education centre is opposite the Turning Basin in the Yarra River and Swanson Dock, providing a safe amenity where the students have unobstructed views of cargo handling.

The potential links to education are huge, but the opportunity also exists to reach out to the wider community. To inform and educate, draw on the skills and experiences of people working within the port and provide facilities and a meeting place for community groups and organisations.
