The Port of Melbourne is a fascinating place, full of huge machines moving around all day everyday. And it's the largest container and general cargo port in Australia!

But, a lot of people don't realise we have a huge port right here near the centre of Melbourne.

Enormous ships come from all around the world to dock here.

Machinery costing millions of dollars, and looking like something out of Transformers, moves massive amounts of cargo each day. Everything, from iPods to cars, clothes and cosmetics are transported through the port.

Imports such as plasma TVs, basketballs, exotic fruits and furniture are found in all our homes and have been shipped here from overseas.

Australia makes billions of dollars by sending things produced here to eager customers overseas, through our port.
