Market sounding for extra container capacity
Period for submissions now closed
In June 2010, the Victorian Government asked Port of Melbourne Corporation (PoMC) to conduct a market sounding process and to provide advice on the provision of additional container capacity at the Port of Melbourne.
As a result, PoMC sought industry and community views on options for managing Melbourne's container trade demand. A discussion paper (PDF, 1.5Mb) was made available to facilitate input and can be viewed for reference.
Industry and community members were invited to lodge formal submissions detailing their perspectives and views on possible options and any related community matters. The content of all submissions is confidential.
PoMC sought submissions up until the end of September 2010 and it is expected that it will take some time to analyse the information in order to prepare detailed advice for the Victorian Government.
PoMC thanks those who took the time to prepare submissions.
