3 October 2025 – Port of Melbourne (PoM) has again been named a Sector Leader, maintaining its rating as a leading Australian and international port in the 2025 Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) Infrastructure Asset Assessment. This year, Port of Melbourne has ranked equal first Australian Port, following two years as the sole number one port in Australia.
The Port maintained its 5-star GRESB rating, and again scored the maximum possible 100 points, following GRESB’s independent review of PoM’s policies, risk management, and key metrics across over 50 environmental, social, and governance focus areas.
Port of Melbourne Chief Executive Officer Saul Cannon said, “We are incredibly proud that Port of Melbourne has achieved a 5-star GRESB rating for the fourth consecutive year, and has maintained the maximum possible 100 points for the second year in a row.”
“That said, this recognition is a reminder that there is still much to do,” said Mr Cannon, “We continue to work towards Net Zero by 2030 for our Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Looking ahead, there is opportunity to lead by example in building a more resilient and sustainable future, and we look forward to working closely with our stakeholders and the wider industry.”
The 2025 result reflects Port of Melbourne’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, with recent milestones including:
- Continuing on our pathway to Net Zero by 2030 by reducing our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 43% in FY24
- Renewing PoM’s ISO Compliance of its Integrated Management Systems with certifications for Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety, and Asset Management
- Achieving “Tier 1 Skilled Workplace” status in the Mental Health First Aid Australia Workplace Recognition Program, reflecting a range of workplace mental health training and initiatives
Used by more than 850 infrastructure funds and assets around the world and representing more than $1.6 trillion in infrastructure investment, GRESB is the leading environmental, social, and governance benchmark for infrastructure investments across the world.
