Saul Cannon
Chief Executive Officer

Saul joined Port of Melbourne in November 2021 and brings to the role over 25 years of commercial, strategy, finance, legal and corporate governance experience. Most recently, Saul was Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer at global logistics provider, Toll Group. Prior to Toll, Saul spent nearly a decade at ASX-listed Asciano Limited, which then owned the Patrick ports and Pacific National rail businesses. Saul holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Law (with honours) and is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School in Boston.

Leigh Petschel
Chief Finance and Strategy Officer

Leigh leads the development and delivery of the Port’s enterprise strategy, including long-term master planning and the Port Capacity Enhancement Program (PCEP) which will deliver a new international container terminal. Leigh also leads the Port’s financial management, and is responsible for funding, regulation, sustainability, and technology.

Before joining Port of Melbourne in 2023, Leigh was the Chief Financial Officer of Monash University and was previously a General Manager and Vice President with Transurban in Australia and North America. Leigh has extensive global experience in infrastructure development and operation and has worked in Australia, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Sarah Browne
Executive General Manager Corporate Relations

Sarah is responsible for the Corporate Relations function and joined in September 2022. Sarah brings to PoM over 20 years of experience leading corporate and regulatory affairs for both public and private sector organisations. Sarah specialises in public affairs for highly regulated and complex industries, across infrastructure, financial services and energy, most recently as national Director Public Affairs at the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association. She has also held senior roles in Premier and Ministerial offices and consulting firms such as FTI Consulting.

Craig Faulkner
Executive General Manager Port Partnerships

Craig leads Port Partnerships, driving strategic projects and initiatives that create long-term value for the Port of Melbourne and its partners. He is responsible for developing and strengthening a wide range of priority engagements associated with port capacity and commercial operations.
Prior to joining the Port of Melbourne, Craig has held a number of senior management roles including Chief Executive Officer of Kimberley Ports Authority and also has deep experience in both the Victorian and Tasmanian ports sector.

Shaun Mooney
Executive General Manager Commercial and Operations

Shaun oversees Port of Melbourne’s Commercial and Operations division, bringing together responsibility for trade and supply chain, property, commercial development and intermodal operations alongside a broad range of operational functions, including safety, security, maritime operations, environment services and landside operations. His integrated remit supports the efficient, safe and sustainable operation of the port.

Shaun’s past roles include at Linfox as General Manager Commercial Projects, and 18 years at Toll Group, where he held a variety of roles across the group, including Global Head – Automotive & Industrials and Executive General Manager – Intermodal. Shaun holds a Bachelor of Accounting and postgraduate qualifications from Melbourne Business School and Harvard Business School as well as being a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

Alex Kuras
Executive General Manager People & Culture

As the Executive General Manager of People & Culture, Alex leads the human resource, enterprise change management, business administration and records management functions.

Prior to joining the company via the former Port of Melbourne Corporation in 2011, Alex held a number of senior management roles with both local and international information technology, telecommunications and professional services organisations such as Siemens, Telstra and DWS Advanced Business Systems. With more than 30 years of experience Alex shares with Port of Melbourne a wealth of knowledge gained from a diverse range of corporate agendas.

Tiffany Newgreen
Executive General Manager Legal, Risk and Compliance

Tiffany is responsible for Legal, Company Secretarial Services, Risk and Compliance, providing strategic oversight and governance across the organisation. Her remit supports Port of Melbourne’s commitment to strong governance, effective risk management and regulatory compliance, enabling the business to deliver on its strategic objectives with confidence and integrity.

Before joining Port of Melbourne in July 2019, Tiffany was the Head of Legal, Victoria at Transurban and was a member of the Transurban Legal team for over 13 years. Tiffany’s broad range of legal experience, includes infrastructure, leasing, procurement, technology and compliance. Prior to her in-house career, Tiffany was a lawyer at King & Wood Mallesons, Melbourne.

Sarah Hannah
Executive General Manager Infrastructure

Sarah leads Port of Melbourne’s Infrastructure division, with responsibility for the planning and delivery of the Port’s asset and infrastructure portfolio. She oversees the development and execution of major capital works and infrastructure programs, ensuring the Port’s assets continue to support safe, efficient and sustainable trade.

Sarah brings significant senior leadership experience across major infrastructure and asset-intensive organisations. Most recently, she held executive roles at AusNet, including Executive General Manager, Group Operations, where she was responsible for asset management, engineering, procurement and delivery governance in complex, regulated environments. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Engineering (with Honours) and an MBA from Melbourne Business School. Sarah is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Australia.
