19 June 2025 – Port of Melbourne is proud to continue its partnership with Williamstown Football Club for the fifth year running. The extension of the Port’s major sponsorship of Williamstown FC will support the club’s initiatives, particularly those aimed at nurturing young talents and promoting active lifestyles among students.
One of Williamstown FC’s programs supported by Port of Melbourne is the Seagull Session clinics, delivered to schools across Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong. In the last 12 months, more than 1,100 primary school students have participated in the program funded by the Port, building skills, boosting confidence, and improving participation in sports among the next generation of young athletes.

Port of Melbourne also funds the Accelerated Program, which develops football knowledge and leadership skills in secondary school students.
The Hon. Melissa Horne MP, Member for Williamstown, commented, “Williamstown FC is booming – reaching more primary school students than ever before. Thanks to their fantastic clinics made possible by the Port of Melbourne, more and more kids are getting involved in sport, boosting their confidence and making strong community connections.”
Williamstown Football Club CEO Ashley Baker said, “We’re proud to announce that Port of Melbourne has extended its partnership with Williamstown Football Club for an additional two years. Their continued support not only strengthens our football programs, but directly impacts more than 1,100 local students annually through school clinics and leadership initiatives that inspire the next generation.”
Each year, Port of Melbourne contributes more than $200,000 to its community partners, actively working with not-for-profit organisations to support social issues and causes in its local area.
“As a city-port, we have a commitment that reaches well beyond the port gate. We are dedicated to giving back to our local community, and the extension of our partnership with Williamstown FC is an incredible example of a collaboration that continues to benefit the communities of Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong,” said Saul Cannon, Port of Melbourne Chief Executive Officer, “We are proud to work with community groups to make a positive impact on our local communities.”
